Virgil Abloh Was without a doubt one of the greatest designers of his time. Something that was important to him was always sharing his work and creating opportunities for those to come after him as well. One of the ways he did that is in a website he created called free game. If you go look up Virgilabloh.com/free-game/ You will be taken to a website Virgil created him self. This one website shows the steps needed to create a fashion brand. There is a 2 ½ minute video at the top of the page where Virgil introduces some of the ideas and how to go about sorting them out. The rest of This site is numbered one through 12 and describes how to go about starting your brand trade marking it actually making shirts how to shoot a lookbook and many other things. It’s very great that Virgil did this. Especially in the fashion community a lot of people don’t want to give away the “secret formula” For success, but Virgil always liked to build people up and make sure that whoever came after him was ready. This website illustrates just that.
The 12 numbered headings are How to name your brand, how to obtain a trademark, how to use Adobe creative suite, how to make a screen print, how to find blanks, how to shoot a lookbook, how to make a website, how to add Shopify, Over arching lectures, figures of speech catalog, personal mentors, and further inspiration. Under each heading is a video link further explaining each idea and a little written note from Virgil next to each video explaining the importance. The site also features to pop-ups that are links to other sites made by Virgil. One is called post modern which is a link to a site where you can donate to a fund for tuition for black students in the fashion field. The other link is called canary yellow which is in archive website of Virgil‘s old designs
