Virgil has been linked to many other creatives over the course of his career. He has many relationships with people in the fashion industry as well as in other areas of art. Out of all of these relationships that he has the most important to him and to his career was his relationship with Kanye West.
In 2009 Virgil got his masters degree and went on to intern at the fashion house Fendi alongside Kanye West in 2009. This was the first time this who came into contact with each other. The two developed a professional and personal relationship in that time and in 2010 Virgil became the creative director for Kanye West creative agency called Donda. He then was the art director for the album watch the throne by Kanye West and Jay-Z. This project earned him a Grammy nomination. Since then the two have always been linked end Virgil has continued to help creative direct some of Kanye’s other albums and also design some of his album covers in collaboration with Kanye. Virgil design to the Yeezus album cover which is perhaps the most iconic of any that he has worked on.
The way the two of them worked together was interesting. Kanye described it That he had a lot of ideas that he didn’t know how to translate, and Virgil ended up being the architect to his design
